Class Description
When booking this class, please note attendance is required on the following dates. If you cannot attend all classes, please choose a different weekend to begin. Choose either Tue. October 22 OR Tue. October 29 - 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm (Classroom - Rockwall) Friday, November 8 - Sunday, November 10 (On the Water - Kemah/Galveston) This class builds on basic seamanship skills and introduces the additional skills required to skipper a larger sailboat, 35-40 feet, on large inland lakes or open coastal waters. After a 3 hour classroom seminar, 3 days, including 2 overnight, will be spent aboard a larger, fully-equipped cruising boat. Students in the class will actually plan and execute a complete trip itinerary. Maximum class size is 8 students. Topics Include: Trip Planning Living afloat Weather Seamanship Navigation Planning USCG Regulations Courtesies & Customs Port Entries and Exits Emergency Procedures Short-handed Cruising Techniques Boat Systems Maintenance Procedures Prerequisites: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising
